Graduate Assistant - Communication Sciences and Disorders

Graduate Assistant position for Communication Sciences and Disorders Master's 1st Year Students   

Responsibilities:   

8 10-hour/week, on-campus GA   

Provide classroom, lab, and coursework leadership, in undergraduate courses, in partnership with instructors (undergraduate instruction/teaching). Assist faculty members with activities leading to grant submissions, conference presentations, and/or scholarly reports. Support the department chair, graduate director, clinical services coordinator, internship coordinator(s) and/or office manager to maintain accreditation. Tasks include (but are not limited to) teaching undergraduate courses within the classroom or in designated labs, tutoring individual or small groups of undergraduate students, data collection, literature reviews, participating in departmental undergraduate and graduate student recruitment efforts (student recruitment), participating in the daily operation of the on-campus clinic and other assigned duties. 

Outcomes: 

Develop professional written and oral communication skills through interactions with undergraduate students, faculty, staff, and the community. 

Develop efficient time management skills by completing projects, within the time frame allotted, as defined by the GA supervisor. 

Develop effective individual and teamwork skills, including but not limited to boundary setting, self-awareness of personal performance, accepting responsibility for decisions and behaviors, making necessary changes, and team communication.  

Employ critical thinking skills when working on departmental projects (demonstrates strong problem-solving skills; ability to adapt to change; selects a strategy; seeks assistance if needed). 

Develop appropriate professional conduct when working with clients, fellow students, faculty members, and professionals who represent a diverse range of personal, cultural, linguistic, and ethnic backgrounds. 

Qualifications: Positions are available to our 1st year graduate students only.  All students applying for a Graduate Assistantship in the Communication Sciences and Disorders department must have a foundational knowledge of Communication Sciences and Disorders.
