Graduate Assistant Honors College: Communications and Outreach
Responsibilities:
Assist with recruitment of incoming honors students (20%)
- Meet with prospective students/families
- Staff tables during resource fairs during large scale admissions events
- Collaborate with partners on recruitment strategies
- Help plan and run Honors Visit Days both on campus and virtually
- Serve as mentor to honors ambassadors for general outreach and follow up with students
Co-advise the Honors Club (30%)
- Meet regularly with honors club executive board
- Assist with the planning, marketing and logistics of honors club events
- Serve as staff representative at honors club events when schedule allows
- Assist in setting up and managing co- and extra-curricular events (10%)
- Prepare informational marketing materials
- Attend sponsored events when schedule allows
- Communicate last-minute considerations to student leaders, Lawrence Hall resident assistants and Residence Hall Director
Act as communication hub for Honors (30%)
- Manage event calendar and cross list campus-wide events
- Prepare announcements for campus distribution
- Design, proofread copy, and publish weekly newsletter
- Manage social media accounts
- Attend weekly staff meetings
Provide administrative support for student services and advising processes (10%)
Learning Outcomes:
- Gain broad experience in college student development and administration
- Develop and demonstrate planning and marketing skills
- Enhance leadership skills through mentoring
Minimum requirements: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and admission to a graduate program at St. Cloud State University. A strong desire to work with academically talented students and first year development program are a must. Knowledge of student development and higher education administration are desirable. Former participation in the SCSU Honors program, an Honors College or Honors program from another institution is desired.
