Graduate Assistant in Honors College

Graduate Assistant in Honors College: Community Engagement and Programming

Assist in organizing and managing first-year and community programming (30%) 

  • Prepare informational marketing materials
  • Serve as mentor to honors ambassadors and coordinate peer mentoring opportunities
  • Co-develop community activities and engagement
  • Attend sponsored events when schedule allows
  • Contribute to planning for the 2025-2026 Honors first-year experience
  • Attend weekly staff meetings

Assist with core required courses (50%) 

  • Serve as teaching assistant in of the one-credit Honors 206 course in the Fall semester
  • Serve as teaching assistant in the one-credit Honors 106 course in the Spring semester
  • Provide occasional assistance to Honors 101 course sections as needed
  • Serve as a liaison to Honors faculty for Honors College event promotion
  • Assist in building and maintaining collaborative partnerships between SCSU Honors college and local community organizations
  • Assist in assessment of student academic community engagement

Provide support for extra-curricular, Honors Club, and recruitment events (10%) 

  • Help promote extra-curricular and Honors Club events
  • Serve as staff representative at Honors Club events when necessary
  • Attend scheduled Honors Club executive board meetings and collaborate with club advisor
  • Assist with recruitment events

Provide administrative support for ongoing initiatives and annual events in Honors (10%)

  • Enhance abilities to work with students and community members
  • Develop and demonstrate leadership, facilitation, and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications: 

A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and admission to a graduate program at St. Cloud State University.  A strong desire to work with academically talented students and first year development program are a must.  Knowledge of student development and higher education administration are desirable.  Former participation in the SCSU Honors program, an Honors College or Honors program from another institution is desired.
