Social Work Graduate Assistant (4 Full-Time Positions Available)

 

Position Title: Graduate Assistant (4 Full-Time GA Positions Available)

Department: Social Work Department

Start/End Date: Academic year 2025-2026

Hours 20 Hours per Week on Campus: 9 credit remission + Stipend

  • 9 credit remission for 20 hours/week: $9,663 (est.) 
  • Stipend: $10,560 for 20 hours per week for the academic year.

 

Responsibilities: The responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Participate in undergraduate instruction either by teaching or by assisting faculty with undergraduate instruction and teaching duties. Under the guidance and supervision of departmental faculty members, graduate assistants may serve as instructors of record or evaluators of tests and papers.
  • Support front-facing student recruitment efforts through campus tours, information sessions, and outreach events.
  • Aid in front-facing student retention initiatives by providing mentorship, guidance, and resources to students.
  • Provide critical/essential support for departmental services such as administrative tasks, event coordination, or program development.
  • Produce Literature Review drafts meeting APA requirements for faculty.
  • Organize and analyze quantitative and qualitative data for social work research.

Applicant Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program at St. Cloud State University.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Exhibit organizational ability and attention to detail.
  • Possess strong written communication skills, including clarity of ideas, proper grammar, and editing.
  • Demonstrate strong oral communication skills, including the ability to express ideas clearly, clarify information, and engage with others.
  • Competence in using Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Able to learn D2L.
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritize work assignments.
  • Preferred:
    • Hold a bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited institution
    • Experience or knowledge of learning processes.
    • Familiarity with human service organizations in Central Minnesota.
    • Experience in program assessment, evaluation, or research activities.
    • Experience or knowledge of statistical software.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations.
    • Commitment to supporting undergraduate students and promoting student success.
    • Organizational skills and attention to detail for managing administrative tasks effectively.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
    • Previous experience in education, recruitment, or related fields is preferred but not required.
