Graduate Assistant Events & Logistics

The Undergraduate Admissions Office is offering an exciting opportunity within the Campus Experience area of the department. Candidates must be self-motivated, team players, willing to take initiative, and dedicated to providing an exceptional experience to visitors at St. Cloud State University.  

This graduate assistantship will assist with the planning and execution of all large on-campus events, act as University Liaison for all group visit requests, and contribute to the day-to-day oversight of Daily Campus Visit programming.  

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Admissions Events Planning & Implementation (70%)

***Assist with all aspects of planning and executing admissions on-campus events, including group visits, daily campus visits, large-scale recruitment events, and virtual events.

***Assist with all day-of logistics for all on-campus events, including set-up, take-down, technology assistance, and coordination with campus partners.

***Collaborate with campus partners and act as liaison for admissions office to provide support in event planning process.  

***Propose new ideas in the event planning and execution process in addition to conducting research on best practices in campus event programming for prospective students.

***Develop skills to adequately present Admissions presentation in daily campus visits.  

Group Visit Oversight (20%)

***Create and implement new marketing initiatives to promote group visit programming and work alongside Admissions Counselors to connect with area high schools.  

***Track and report group visit attendance including application matriculation data.

***Collaborate with campus partners and act as liaison for admissions office to provide support in day-of logistics.

***Assist in the management of event-specific email flows and tracking in the University’s CRM (Liaison EMP).  

Other (10%)

***Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Admissions Office, including staffing the welcome desk when needed.

***Attend weekly office staff meetings.

***Attend weekly meeting with supervisor.

 

The student will:

***Develop knowledge and skills that directly relate to large-scale event planning and execution.

***Develop an understanding of the prospective student college decision process and how the event experience is critical to that decision-making process.

***Enhance public speaking and relationship building skills.

***Develop project management skills which includes meeting deadlines, providing clear direction to stakeholders, and effective evaluation upon completion of the project.

***Acquire knowledge of databases used to maintain communication flows to prospective students.

 

***Passion for SCSU and the ability to promote the University.

***Some experience with event planning and execution.

***Strong written and oral communication skills.

***Knowledge of all Microsoft Office products.
