Center for Teacher Preparation Graduate Assistant

Responsibilities

20 hour/week, on-campus

Occasional evening/weekend hours may be required


The College of Education and Learning Design Center for Teacher Preparation graduate assistant will work directly with students, maintaining a positive and welcoming environment, and working within all College of Education and Learning Design guidelines and policies. It is critical that this graduate assistant be knowledgeable, empathetic, self-directed, and resourceful.  The College of Education and Learning Design Center for Teacher Preparation graduate assistant will: 
 

  • Maintain InPlace, Cooperating Teacher and School Partner Databases
  • Assist in social media development and management
  • Provide information and resources to students in a respectful, knowledgeable, and timely manner
  • Assist in the development of informational materials and resources pertaining to teacher preparation
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of College of Education and Learning Design academic offerings
  • Utilize Navigate for student outreach, field experience and student teaching eligibility, and record maintenance
  •  Provide front desk office coverage
  • Maintain student confidentiality
  • Assist in planning and executing recruitment events for prospective students such as Discover Red and Black Days, Preview Days, and Future Teacher Academy camps as needed
  • Assist in planning and executing college-wide events for current students, faculty, and community partners
  • Attend team meetings
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support student success

Outcomes

* Develop skills in advising and coaching a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate teacher education students for the purposes of recruitment and retention using student success strategies
* Develop skills in event planning, marketing, and implementation
* Gain an understanding of recruitment, retention, and student success strategies
* Enhance data tracking and analysis skills for the purposes of supporting student success and partnership building and support
* Develop working knowledge of Minnesota teacher licensure requirements, academic program requirements, program improvement and state regulatory processes in order to support student success for both graduation and licensure purposes
